KIPBS Case Manager Section

Welcome to the Targeted Case Management Online Guide

The Targeted Case Management (TCM) Online Guide was developed to provide a basic overview of information and key components of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) for case managers and other professionals who support children and adults with challenging behaviors. The TCM Online Guide steers the user through a set of self-explanatory training sections. Each training section is complemented by video, presentations, sample case studies, glossary terms, tools, resource links, and/or other resources.

The TCM Online Guide is a source for PBS best practices. The TCM Online Training is not designed to qualify the user to create or develop intensive behavior support plans. However, it does help the user to assess the situation and develop minor support plans, which in many cases, are the preliminary steps to more intensive behavior support plans.

If the focus individual is engaging in behaviors that are dangerous to him/herself, or to other around them, or if after implementation of suggestions in Sections 1 through 4 the focus individual is still engaging in unwanted behaviors, a more intensive behavior support plan may be recommended. Your assistance may be necessary in helping the individual and his/her support team locate and access a qualified behavior professional. Sections 5 and 6 address making a referral to another professional and collaborating as a team, and offer additional resources and opportunities for further training. These sections can also be used as a guide in locating a Kansas Institute for Positive Behavior Support Facilitator (KIPBS).
